Award winning Karen Burrier will be teaching her applique method of Turned Edge Applique by using a sewing machine with a technique that results in the look of hand applique! Learn skills to use a variety of shapes with circles, points, and indentation like hearts. This 14" tulip/flowers pattern will make a beautiful pillow. Karen will be teaching Sharon's Secret Foundation for applique method. Three 2 hour sessions.

Karen Burrier 18? square unwashed background fabric Fabric for appliqu? pieces need to be prewashed 1 - 6? square fabric for center flower 9 - 4? squares of fabric for circle and 8 tulips, can use scraps 4? x 20? fabric for 8 leaves 1/8 yd for stems Frizion pen to mark design Mechanical pencil Paper scissors Fabric scissors One Mylar sheet with grid on it Washable Elmer?s Glue Stick (purple) Original Liquid Stitch permanent Glue 2 or 3 Q-Tips Freezer paper, two pieces 12? x 12? Iron, regular size or small one is preferred Appliqu? pressing sheet June Tailor pressing board/cutting mat if you do not have an ironing board. Clear Sulky Polyester for top thread 50 weight thread that matches your background fabric for bobbin thread Schmitz Embroidery 70/11 OR Universal 60/8 machine needles Clover 1/4? bias tape maker or method of your choice to make 1/4? wide stems These items are needed at class, but you will need these at home: Double layer of batting about 20? x 20? with fabric cover on top/bottom for final pressing when completed. Synthopol to put in water to wash block when finished (at home). It takes several hours to soak. |
