Easing Into Improv Class



Feeling stuck on where and how to start your first improv quilt? In this class we’ll cover the basics of ruler-free cutting, sewing without pins and building blocks. No matching of seams makes improv easy and liberating, making you confident in no time.

We’ll cover:
  • Half-square triangles
  • Quarter circle curves
  • Soft curves
  • Improv triangles
Skill level: must be able to consistently sew a quarter inch seam allowance, and have basic quilting knowledge (i.e. how to use a rotary cutter).

Requirements: Supplies: Sewing machine in good working order Quarter inch foot Basic sewing supplies Extension cord Rotary cutter Cutting mat Neutral thread Ruler (I like a 2.5? x 12.5? and a larger one for squaring up blocks) Fabric: 4-6 fat quarters or half yards in solids or near solids that work together in a variety of values and hues.
