Simply Swoon Class

Frankie Crosby is a instructor from Pennsylvania and is coming to Des Moines to teach the Swoon Quilt Block!  This class will be filled with all kinds of wonderful knowledge about quilting and tips and tricks on making this challenging 24" block.

In a one-day, 6 1/2 hour class, students will finish at least one 24" quilt block of the Simply Swoon pattern by Camille Roskelley
The fabrics you choose can be an explosion of color or your colors can be very
controlled - your choice! Each block is finished at 24" and requires 2 different fat quarters and your background fabric. I googled "Swoon quilts" and was treated to a feast for my eyes, very interesting to see all the unique color-ways.

You can make the 24" block or choose to do the mini swoon, just by getting a different pattern.

Requirements: Swoon Supply List Swoon quilt pattern by Camille Roskelley ? 24? blocks Sewing machine in good working order w/all cords and peddle. Also, bring sewing machine manual if readily available ? you never know when you might need it! The fabrics you choose can be an explosion of color or your colors can be very controlled - your choice! Each block is finished at 24" and requires 2 different fat quarters and your background fabric. Basic sewing supplies A sewing machine in good working condition and that you know how to use ?? sewing machine foot Thread for piecing Pencil or marking tool if marking? The Swoon pattern has you marking diagonal lines on lots of the squares. I think it is much less labor intensive to use Diagonal Seam Tape, an Angler, Clearly Perfect Angles from New Leaf Stitches or Sew Straight by Quilting in a Day. The Angler may be out of print, but if you have one they work great! All of these products have a nice 1/4" seam guide as well as the ability to sew 1/4" lines on either side of center for half-square triangles. I also think starching the fat quarters is a big help; it gives the 24" blocks a nice stability! When making my own Swoon, I didn't starch the background fabric though and it all went together very nicely. If you feel comfortable cutting your fabrics you may do so prior to coming to class. If not, no problem ? we?ll have time to do that at the beginning of class.
