Creekside Quilting Newsletter 02/05/2019
Hello from the Atlantic Ocean! Creekside Quilting is a proud sponsor of the Party wth Patrick (Lose) Sewing Cruise and we have provided 22 Pfaff Ambition Essentials for his sewing cruise. I am the lucky recipient of being able to tag long and make sure the machines are working for everyone and that the sewers have everything they need! I did send an extra machine for me to sew on...just in case I get some time to sew also! I thought that throughout this adventure, I would periodically send out a newsletter about any fun adventures, and to keep you updated on what we are doing for projects on the trip!
First days project was was a bag to commentate the trip
First day of our weather!
With all of this being said, I do have one disclaimer, I brought my iPad on the cruise, and I do not have access to all my photo’s. So, you may have to look at past newsletters (which you can find on our website www.creeksidequiltingiowa.com under the newsletter header in the top ribbon). You can also click on classes on our home page and it will bring up pictures.Community Outreach ProgramsOur Souper Bowl Soup Can Drive was a GREAT success! We collected 19 more cans of food this past week to give to the Urbandale Food Bank! The Patriots may have won the Super Bowl, but the real winners were the people in need in our community! Thank you to everyone who participated by dropping off a can of soup and receiving 5 extra loyalty points per can! We added a total of 600 extra loyalty points to people’s accounts! Our next community event is the Living History Farms “How Does Your Garden Grow”Creekside Quilting is a proud sponsor of the Living History Farms Event How Does Your Garden Grow? Quilt and Textile Show February 14-16 and February 21-23! The Living History Farms description of event: "Wishing for spring? Combat the winter blues with a look at the birds, bees, and flower patterns found in the Living History Farms’ historic textile collection. This special exhibit of historic quilts, clothing, handwork, and hats have been selected for their nature motifs and garden themes. Visit with craft and quilting demonstrators and explore hands-on textile activities for kids and adults. Learn from creative demonstrators and bring your own knitting or sewing projects to work on alongside museum crafters. Chat with plant and pollinator specialists and browse the MarketPlace Museum Store for supplies to start your own spring nature projects." I will be teaching a workshop entitled "Our Love of 1930's Quilts" on Friday February 22nd starting at noon. Then on Saturday, I will be teaching a Hexi Paper Piecing class. Tickets are available on line through Living History Farms! This is going to be a wonderful event! Check out their website https://www.lhf.org/event/how-does-your-garden-grow-quilt-textile-show/ to see all the wonderful events planned those two weekends! Maybe on the 14th, you could take your honey ;)!What’s New @ Creekside Quilting?I’m in love with this Best Friends Forever line of fabric! It comes with a doll panel (not pictured).Cuddly Kitten flannel is it’s name, and it sure is cute for those kiddosn who want to snuggle down with their kitty!A few Seurat florals to remind us Spring is coming! But we still have a little bit of winter left to contend with...these Mamoth Blue Flannels are nothing to cry about though!I am thrilled that we are getting more and more Patriotic fabrics in! The top fabric is the Constitution written out in the American Digital fabric line! The Americana eagles and flags would make a great focal point in the middle of a quilt or with a pattern that had large 6-10 inch blocks. We have a pattern called BQ4 that this fabric would work great with! You asked for more Kona Wide Backs and we received them in! A nice selection of basic colors in the Kona quality you expect! And a few more wide screens in spring colors! What’s New with Pfaff?Come on in one blustery afternoon and sit down to one of our sewing machines and play!
