Which brings me to the next item....our classroom is open and we can have 8 people in the classroom, and I have added a TV so if you are on Zoom....you can still be a part of the group! We tried this Saturday with our Iowa State Fair quilt group, and it worked GREAT!!! I am adding a speaker to the classroom, but other than that....we nailed it and let's just keep getting together as a community of friends!
Which brings me to the next Patchwork Sister's Book Club Quilt Challenge....We are doing Ivy's Log Cabin Quilt! Take a Log Cabin Quilt Block and create any pattern you want with it! We will be meeting right after our book club at 2:30 on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Wanting to do something unique with your Log Cabin Quilt Blocks...go to Pinterest and type in Log Cabin Quilt patterns...you will have more than enough to choose from
The Log Cabin Quilt Block is a great way of showing love between friends and family. Here is the link for the history of the Log Cabin Quilt Block.
Here is the link to 4 blogs that show and demonstrate , tips and tricks of making a Log Cabin Quilt. If you are a beginner quilter, this club is for you! If you are a seasoned quilter, this club is for you! We will have do show and tell the 4th Wednesday of every month August through December...so gather up those scraps and join us! Call the store to register!
I am short 5 quilt blocks in the size of 10 1/2" square for our Healing Quilt! I know so many of you have reached out to me and said, "do you need more blocks?" Unfortunately, I can't remember who has offered! Please if you could turn in a quilt block with in the next two weeks...I'd so appreciate it....and please make sure it is 10 1/2" square. Thank you!
Well nothing compares to the Iowa State Fair, but here at Creekside we are going to try to have a little fair fun!
Please send in a 5x7 photo of the quilt you were going to enter into the fair this year, and you could possibly win a prize! Here are the rules:
1. Take a picture of your quilt and develop it into a 5x7 size
2. On a 4x6 plain index card, write:
the category of either 300" or less, 301" or more, applique or wool
your name and phone information,
a description of your quilt,
the finished size of your quilt,
and a little tid bit about the quilt
3. Tape the index card to the back of you photo
4. Mail the photo to Creekside Quilting, 9926 Swanson Blvd., Clive, Iowa 50325
5. All entries due by close of day Saturday, August 15th
6. Creekside will then take all photos and divide them in categories and display them in the store
6. Staff and customers will cast votes. If there is a tie, I will be the deciding vote
7. Winners will be notified the first week in September
1st place winner in each category gets $25 gift card,
2nd place winner in each category gets $15
3rd place winner get $10 gift card. You can enter one picture in each category.
So start taking those photos and get your pictures to Creekside Quilting...let's have a little fair fun!

Sit and Knit with Elaine on Sunday, August 16th starting at 1:30 pm. This club is open to anyone who likes to knit, and would like to knit with other knitters! Wednesday, August 26th at 2:30 pm We are blessed to be welcoming Marie Bostwick to Creekside Quilting on Wednesday, August 26th!! Yep, the author of our Patchwork Sister's Book Club will be coming to us from Zoom and I couldn't be more excited! I have already created a list of questions I want to ask her!!! If you are Marie Bostwick fan, please call the store to register...it's free! Our Patchwork Sister's Book Club will have first dibs at being in the classroom to Zoom the conversation, but we can put more people on Zoom
Friday, August 28th at 1 pm: UFO Club We have changed up our UFO Club guidelines for 2020 , and this club will now be FREE to everyone!! At the end of the year, if you have a ticket, you will be eligible for prizes at our end-of-year party next June. There will be no money collected throughout the year for missed project goals, just tickets given out for accomplished goals....these tickets will enter you automatically in our prizes. And you don't have to come every month....the more tickets you earn, the more chances you have to win...it's that easy!
We gather on the last Friday of every month for show and tell of our latest projects! Every month we set a goal(s) on what we hope to achieve in the next 4 weeks. IF we meet our goal(s), we get a ticket to put in for the drawing of prizes at the end of the year. IF you don't meet your goal, no problem, you just don't get a ticket...but you can re-set your goal for the upcoming 4 weeks. You can join any time through out the year. Getting ready to send your kids/grandkids back to school? Take the easy route and purchase our pre-cut masks for children! We used our Accuquilter to pre-cut some mask kits! So many of you are making masks for teachers, friends, family and kids going back to school....Brenda shared a picture of her collection of masks....unfortunately, I don't think this is going away any time soon...thanks to everyone out there making masks to help others!
