Woot!!  Woot!!  Do you know what today is?  Yes, you are correct!  The shortest day of the year!  Woot Woot!  And do you know what that means?  Yes you are right!!  HOPE!!  Tomorrow we gain one more minute of sunlight and are back on the swing to the longest day of the year!!  Woot!  Woot!  We made it!!!  (Granted, today is also the first day of winter, but we won't let that ruin our joy....more sunlight and a day closer to spring is what we will focus on!)

  The Underground Railroad totally amazes me and always makes me ponder.  Did you know that there is no written documentation about the Underground Railroad being a true part of history?  It was all verbal and we have quilt blocks made during this time in history...for a specific reason?  I believe so.   Jan's Quilting for Beginners: A Hobby for Life Class starts January 17th for three consecutive Monday nights.   

Learn the basics of quilt making start to finish using modern techniques, rotary cutter and mat.  Basic sewing experience and access to home sewing machine is required.  Students receive a pattern for a simple project to learn step by step.  Then students will be able to quilt with confidence and knowledge to complete a project.   Downton Abbey Fans we are having a Downton Abbey kickoff retreat for the new movie being released on March 22nd!  We are hosting a Downton Abbey Two Day Retreat on Friday, March 4th from 9am to 10 pm and Saturday, March 5th from 8 am to 9pm at the Walker Johnston Giovannetti Community Shelter in Urbandaale, Iowa.  There will be plenty of space for sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidery or most any craft project you want to work on!  We will have the season's of Downton Abbey running consistantly throughout our retreat time!
